Occupy UNCC Outreach

Source: The Charlotte Observer

Driving in to work this morning I heard on the radio that the Occupy Wall Street movement has infiltrated the UNC-Charlotte campus.  From the Charlotte Observer article today,

Occupy UNC Charlotte’s immediate goal, as stated on its Facebook page, is to fill the Belk Tower Plaza in the center of campus with tents, at least 20 overnight protesters and an around-the-clock information table that started Monday.

This is great news!  UNC-Charlotte has been the location of our Thursday night outreaches since September (usually at the Student Union), and having just preached last Friday where this Occupy Camp is set up, we know we’ll have a captive audience to hear the proclamation of the Gospel, loudly and clearly.

So we invite you to join us this Thursday night as we love these students with the truth of God’s Word.  Join us for dinner at 5:30pm at Qdoba, or meet us in the parking lot by 6:30p to head to UNCC. Otherwise, meet us on campus at the Belk Tower between 6:45-10pm.  If this is your first time joining us, please contact us so we can know to expect you.

If you can’t make it this Thursday night, the student occupiers have permission to protest 24/7 through Thanksgiving according to their facebook page.

Psalm 146

1 Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord, O my soul!
2 I will praise the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

3 Put not your trust in princes,
in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation.
4 When his breath departs, he returns to the earth;
on that very day his plans perish.

5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord his God,
6 who made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that is in them,
who keeps faith forever;
7 who executes justice for the oppressed,
who gives food to the hungry.

The Lord sets the prisoners free;
8 the Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down;
the Lord loves the righteous.
9 The Lord watches over the sojourners;
he upholds the widow and the fatherless,
but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.

10 The Lord will reign forever,
your God, O Zion, to all generations.
Praise the Lord!
